Keith
Anderson is a life-long resident of
Grand Rapids, MN where he has provided legal
services for nearly 30 years. His practice
includes real estate and trust law, as well
as commercial law. In addition, Keith is a
partner in a land development company and
has taken a leadership role in providing
housing as well as commercial developments
throughout the area and along the river.
Keith’s civic
involvement, in addition to serving on
America’s Waterway Board of Directors,
includes the leadership of the Itasca County
Habitat for Humanity and the Veterans
Support Fund at the Community Foundation for
the Grand Rapids Area. Previously he served
as the president of the local school
district endowment fund.
Keith earned his

Dale Chapman, Ph.D, is chairman of
the board of the National Great Rivers
Research and Education Center. NGRREC has
been created from a partnership between
Illinois University and Lewis and Clark
Community College, where he has been
president for 18 years and has guided the
college to its leadership role among
community colleges in the area of
environmental research, education and
integrated activism. Under his leadership
the campus has grown from 3,000 to 13,500
students and has completed $123 million in
capital projects.
Chapman also serves on the board of
directors for the Illinois Mississippi River
Parkway Commission. He previously served as
president of Suomi Community College on the
Keeweenaw Peninsula in Michigan. He received
his doctorate from Harvard University. |

Steven Clift is the founder of
E-Democracy and a life-long resident of the
Mississippi River. One of the world’s
leading experts on e-democracy, Steve is
focused on the use of the Internet in
democracy, governance, and community. A
frequent media commentator and public
speaker, In 2001 and 2003, he was listed
among “The 25 Who Are Changing the World of
Internet and Politics” by Politics Online.
Steve is a graduate of Winona State
University and the Humphrey Institute of
Public Affairs at the University of
Minnesota. He has worked for the Minnesota
legislature, the U.S. congress and served as
the executive director of Minnesota’s
Information Access Council. He speaks and
consults on e-democracy all over the world
and recently returned from Kenya. |

Kris Ferraro is a life-long
resident of Grand Rapids, MN where she has
provided tax and accounting services for
nearly 30 years. Kris is often called upon
to assist nonprofit organizations with their
management and financial issues and is
recognized in the community as a leader of
civic efforts to strengthen the community.
She has served on the Chamber of Commerce,
as well as other local economic development
organization boards. She is currently a
trustee of the Blandin Foundation and the
Grand Rapids Area Library Foundation.
Kris earned her accounting degree from
Bemidji State University. |

Anne Lewis is a marketing
communications professional currently
applying that expertise as a consultant and
as founder of America’s Waterway whose goal
is the formation of a constituency of River
communities for the Mississippi River so
that whole-river approaches to the river’s
condition can be enacted.
Anne has held numerous non-profit leadership
roles throughout her career, including
helping to form the Community Foundation of
the Grand Rapids area. She serves on the
Board of Advisors for the University of
Maryland School of Social Work and the
Marketing Advisory Committee for the
National Aquarium in Baltimore, where she is
a current resident. She holds a master’s
degree in communication from Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute as well as
accreditation in the Public Relations
Society of America. |

| Joe Piotrowski most
recently served the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency's Office of Water as its
Co-Chair for the Gulf Hypoxia Task Force
Coordinating Committee. While at EPA, Joe
was involved in Chesapeake Bay issues,
especially aspects of public engagement for
the Bay's clean up. In addition, he served
in numerous EPA positions, including interim
director of the Office of Water. |
